Mobility in 2026: what changed
Apple ends legacy update commands, and Wi-Fi 8 is not here yet. HPE Aruba Networking Wi-Fi and private 5G: supplied and integrated.
What changed this year for enterprise mobility, and what to put in your requirement.¹
Every date comes from the vendor's or publisher's own page. Third-party reports are marked.
1. Apple: declarative updates only
Apple's WWDC26 device-management update, published on June 8, 2026, says legacy software-update commands, queries and deferrals stop working in all 27.0 operating systems. The design sets Apple updates through declarative software update management only.

2. A private 5G license rolls over
The HPE Aruba Networking P5G Core 1.25.1 license reaches end of sale on October 31, 2026 and is replaced by 1.26.1 (notice of June 30, 2026): a new release, not a withdrawal.

3. Nokia's campus unit
Nokia agreed on October 13, 2026 to sell its Enterprise Campus Edge unit to Aurelius, with closing expected in the first half of 2027. Each private 5G bidder must commit in writing to support.

4. Wi-Fi 8: not yet
Wi-Fi 8 certification is reported as targeted for January 2028 on the Wi-Fi Alliance roadmap, so the design specifies Wi-Fi 7.

What this means for a buyer
A vendor's sale of a business unit is a supply question; the design asks every bidder to commit to support in writing.
