Strategic Resourcing in 2026: what changed

Server parts: lead times near a year, and memory prices are rising. Dell, Lenovo and Supermicro servers: supplied and integrated.

What changed this year for sourcing infrastructure after a comparison, and what to put in your requirement.¹

Every date comes from the vendor's or publisher's own page. Third-party reports are marked.

1. Lead times near a year

TrendForce reported on April 15, 2026 that server CPU and circuit-board lead times run close to one year. The design targets at least 4 weeks of planned float on every critical line.

2. Memory prices

TrendForce reported on July 9, 2026 that server DRAM contract prices rise 13–18% quarter on quarter in the third quarter of 2026. The design's target threshold is 5%: any unit-price rise above it between quote and order goes back to the buyer for approval.

3. Cisco 360

Cisco's partner designations changed when the Cisco 360 Partner Program launched on January 26, 2026, so partner status is checked again at each review.

4. The Cyber Resilience Act

Since September 11, 2026, manufacturers must report actively exploited vulnerabilities under the Cyber Resilience Act. The record maps each serial number to its manufacturer's advisories.

What this means for a buyer

Supply is checked at the fourth question of every comparison. In a year like this one, that check needs real float and a price-rise limit agreed in advance.
